Nice Cream? You Scream? Try this Peanut Butter Nice Cream with Crackle Topping Instead of Ice Cream
You might be wondering, what is nice cream?
The term nice cream was originally coined to describe a vegan dessert that looks and tastes like ice cream with a base of frozen bananas and almond milk. Now, the term ‘nice cream’ has evolved to include vegan ice cream made of any fruit base, blended to mimic everyone’s favourite treat.
We’ll state the obvious here – nice cream is a much healthier alternative to ice cream.
Because it consists of a banana base, the fruit’s natural sugars cancel out any need for added sugars. So whether you have a serious sweet tooth (who doesn’t?), you’re trying to get your kids to eat more fruit, or you’re just looking for a way to incorporate more dairy-free recipes into your lifestyle, this recipe is a welcome addition to your sweets roster.
How Can I Make Nice Cream Taste like Regular Ice Cream?
This is where your friend Beyond Moo’s Oatgurt comes into play.
Frozen bananas blended with almond milk is great, but adding oat gurt turns this banana treat into a creamy soft serve that you will want to make over and over again.
Add peanut butter, and it’s even creamier (and dreamier).
But the crackle topping is the best part of this Peanut Butter Nice Cream!
Feeze this recipe for about 2 hours before pouring the chocolate on top, and let it sit for a few minutes before going all in on that crackle.
Trust the process.
Now that you’ve gotten the nice cream basics out of the way, you’re ready to get the juicy details. Save this for your next hot, sunny day!

INGREDIENTS
Peanut Butter Nice Cream with Chocolate Crackle Topping
Product Type: Vanilla Oat Yogurt
Level: Easy
Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
1 cup Vanilla Oatgurt
2 small frozen bananas
3 tbsp peanut butter
1 tbsp coconut oil
4 tbsp chocolate chips
Instructions:
- To a high-speed blender or food processor, add Vanilla Oatgurt, frozen bananas, and peanut butter. Blend until creamy and smooth. You will need to stop the blender a few times to scrape down the sides and mix. Depending on the size of the bananas you used, you may need to add a splash of non-dairy milk to thin it out.
- Spread the banana nice cream in a bowl and place in the freezer while you prep the chocolate.
- To a small, microwave-safe bowl add chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the bowl of banana nice cream and let set in the fridge for 5-10 minutes.
- Break open and enjoy! We like to top ours with fresh fruit and some extra chocolate chips.
