Dairy-free Watermelon Pizza – a Superfruit, Superfood Dessert & Snack all-in-one
Watermelon is a fan favourite, especially near the end of summer as watermelon season starts to wind down.
The natural sugars make it a kid’s perfect sweet snack, and because it’s predominantly made up of water – 90%, if you believe it! – it quenches the thirst and provides a strong amount of electrolytes that help you stay hydrated.
As we said, we love watermelon plain, BUT we also love playing around with our oatgurt so testing it on watermelon was an end-of-season must!
How We’re Making this Watermelon Pizza
It’s quite a simple recipe.
Take the watermelon and cut it into pizza slices, top with oatgurt, fruit and coconut.
That’s all, it’s that easy!
The best part?
The oatgurt is loaded with probiotics and other nutrients such as calcium and B12, making it the perfect dairy-free dessert that’s great for you and great for your kids too. They are going to eat up these fun pizza bites, and you get to load them up with nutrition at the same time.
You Can Modify it to Fit Your Taste
The beauty of this watermelon pizza recipe is that you can modify it to fit your taste. You’re not a fan of blueberries, raspberries, and cherries? Try switching it out for strawberries and kiwis. Toasted coconut not your favourite? Add in sliced, roasted almonds instead!
The key ingredient here, though, is the Vanilla Oatgurt. Not overly sweet, it has a rich, smooth texture that adds a luxurious layer to the snack. Filled with vitamins and probiotics, the vanilla oatgurt contributes to a healthy gut flora.
